Magician Class

I'm proposing a spell point variant on the traditional Magic-User, using a twist seen rarely on the internet. This variant has a fixed number of spell points, with the cost of a given spell decreasing each level in a predetermined way. The goal of this system is to prevent the player from accumulating a huge number of spells castable per day at high levels, without letting them cast more top tier "nova spells" than if they had spell slots. This should restrain the Magician from exponentially gaining in power compared to the Magic User.

This Class is intended to cast any spell in the game, though Arcane spells won't work with metal armour. This enables the Cleric and Magic-User to be replaced.

Magicians have 20+WIS magic points. The top row indicates spell level, the blue column indicates character level. A number in a centre cell notes the point cost of casting a spell. A blank cell means a character of that level can't cast spells of the correspoinding level. For instance, a fourth level Magician can cast 2nd or 3rd level spells at 4 or 6 points. The costs have been calculated such that 1 highest level spell and 2 second-highest level spells use up most of the points, leaving only a few left for low level spells. This makes Magicians much more limited at high levels than Magic-Users of the same level, though with access to the same level of spell.

I bit the bullet and let the class use any armour or weapon. I don't think these restrictions add much to the game and Gandalf never hesitated to chop up orcs with his sweet Elvencraft sword, why not do this in our own games? Magicians need a backup for when they inevitably blow all their points.
